is my child the right age for open play?
Rise & Shine Play is designed for children aged 0-5. We offer free admission for children who are not yet crawling when accompanied by a paid sibling. Siblings aged 6+ are free, and while they are too big to play in the play area, we have books, coloring supplies, and other activities to keep them entertained in our lounge area.
where do I park?
We are located in the Shelter Island Village shopping center, which has parking located in the main lot, a few spots behind the building (next to Marvelous Muffins) and plenty of street parking. As for stroller parking, we do have limited space inside, so we ask you leave the stroller in the car if possible.
do I need to bring anything?
Adults must wear socks and children must wear grippy socks in the play area. We sell both adult and children's socks for $3 if you forget to bring.
We have prepackaged snacks and beverages and hand-crafted espresso drinks from our coffee cart for sale, but feel free to bring your own if you'd prefer. Please note we are a nut free facility.
In an effort to make your family as comfortable as possible, we have the following amenities available: extra diapers and wipes, high chair, extra clothes in case of an accident and more.
Speaking of potty training (ugh)..... when visiting rise & shine please put your child in a diaper or pull-up until they are completely potty trained.
am I watching my kid or are you?
Rise & Shine is not a daycare or drop-off center; adults must supervise their children at all times. Behavior that poses a risk to other children or the play space will not be permitted - rise & shine team members will check in with the adult if there are any issues. If the issues persist, rise & shine reserves the right to ask the guests to leave with no refund. Please use your best judgement and let's keep the play space positive and fun for everyone!
I can't make my open play session - what do I do?
Things happens and we totally understand! If you cannot make your pre-booked open play session please email us at hello@riseandshineplay.com or call/text us at (858)789-2017 at least 2 hours prior to your booked start time. We allow one complimentary rescheduled open play session, which must be used within 30 days. If you do not show up or you cancel less than 2 hours before your session's start time, your open play session will be forfeited.
what is your cleaning protocol?
The health & safety of our guests and team are of the utmost importance to Rise & Shine Play. We strive to keep Rise & Shine Play as clean as possible through the following efforts:
- regular cleaning and disinfection throughout the day and after closing
- hand sanitizer is readily available
- we clean all toys and surfaces with non-toxic Force of Nature solution
- baskets conveniently placed around the space for toys that have been "tasted" by little mouths
- shoe free play area - all children and adults must remove shoes and wear socks (cannot be barefoot) in both the foyer and the play area
